Jigsaw Puzzles

⇐ Go Back

Stick the front of old greeting cards or other pictures onto a piece of stiff card making sure that you leave an equal and straight border around the edge. Using a sharp pair of scissors cut the card into 3, 4 or 6 pieces. Make some of the cuts slightly curved with others being straight. Encourage the child to put the pieces together. The type of concentration involved in putting a jigsaw puzzle together is similar to that used in reading and this makes jigsaw puzzles excellent practice for reading.
